Flu-season is fast approaching and we will soon be sending out information regarding your option to receive the influenza vaccine.  Influenza is a respiratory illness that typically is spread through coughing or sneezing.  Flu-vaccines are designed to protect against certain strains of influenza A and B viruses.  Yearly vaccination is recommended by the CDC as the single most important step in preventing influenza.  Other important measures are good hand-washing and staying away from people that are ill.  Please be aware that there is still a possibility of getting the flu, even if you are vaccinated, so if you experience symptoms it is important to get tested, and antiviral therapy started if indicated.  Please sign or decline the consent forms once you receive them and return to us in the mail so that we can begin vaccinating as soon as the vaccines arrive, hopefully in October.  Please note the flu vaccines may arrive later this year as public health officials wanted to ensure the correct strains were chosen for the flu vaccination.
