Notes from Nursing
Now that summer has arrived, and with the temperatures on the rise, we wanted to remind you how important it is to protect your skin. Please be sure to apply SPF sunscreen that is at least number 15, and apply at least 30 minutes before sun exposure. Make sure to apply sunscreen to your nose, ears, and cheeks. If you are in the sun for more than 2 hours, sunscreen needs to be re-applied to prevent sunburn.
Sunlight exposure is the highest between 10:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon. The suns UV rays can damage skin within 15 minutes of being in the sun. Please be aware that certain medications can cause increased sensitivity to sunlight. If you are planning to go outdoors, please let staff know ahead of time so we can make sure they are wearing sunscreen and proper clothing.
