Notes from Nursing

Hopefully everyone is staying cool with all this hot weather.  With this heat it is important to drink plenty of water.  If you or your loved ones have any issues with breathing or lung conditions, please limit your time outdoors during weather like this as it may exacerbate symptoms. 

Hayley and I would like to provide some more information regarding antibiotics.  Antibiotic stewardship refers to a set of commitments and activities designed to optimize the treatment of infections while reducing the adverse events associated with antibiotics use.  Antibiotics are medications that treat infections caused by bacteria.  Not all colds and respiratory infections require antibiotics.  There are risks associated with antibiotic use, taking them when not imperative can cause more harm than good.  Some of the potential risks include allergic reactions, side effects, interactions with other medications, other infections and resistance to antibiotics.  If you have any questions regarding antibiotic stewardship, please see me or Hayley.
